A hospital
pharmacy worker has helped an 88-year-old woman get
a stair lift installed in her home - by setting up
an online funding campaign.
Ruth Riley, of
Walten-le-Dale, Lancashire, England, had been
offered part funding by her local council - but
could not afford to raise the £2,000 extra
needed to get the stair lift installed.
But now she has had
a stair lift fitted - after pharmacy worker Rachel
Shannon set up a campaign to raise cash.
Rachel had seen how
much pain Ruth was in when she visited the
pensioner as part of her work - delivering
medication.
Rachel said:
"I got a great response. The money was raised in a
week."
A local stair lift
company, Easylifting Stairlift Services of Wigan,
fitted the stair lift for Ruth.
Ruth said:
"It's made my life 100 per cent better. It's all
down to Rachel. I can't thank her
enough."
Speaking to the
Lancashire Evening Post, Lancashire County Council
said that quotes provided by them include lifetime
maintenance and 24-hour call out and that they
would still be happy to speak with Ruth and her
family.
